NPP continues to be targeted

In yet another intimidation to the supporters of NPP, unknown miscreants lobbed a hand grenade at an election office of the party (NPP) at Moirang Kampu Mayai Leikai under Khurai Assembly Constituency last night at around 11.15 .
The bomb exploded near Moirang Kampu Mayai Leikai Panchayat Ground, but no one was injured as the office was unoccupied at the time of the incidence.
According to reports culled from the site, the bomb was lobbed by two persons coming in a two wheeler.
The office was damaged by the impact of the explosion.
Denouncing the attack, a sit in protest was staged at Khewa Thongkong, today.
At the protest demonstration, NPYF State president and NPP candidate in Khurai AC Laitonjam Jayananda said that this is not the first time his supporters had been targeted as the same incident had taken place on February 11 at Khabeisoi too.
Condemning the attack, he said that such an intimidation will not be able to rob the democratic rights of the voters.
"No power can stop the people from exercising their franchise," he added.
Jayananda then appealed to the CEO, Manipur to look into the matter to hold the election in a free and fair manner in all the 60 Assembly segments of Manipur.
Continuing that he received no threat from any underground outfits at all and doesn't have the might to challenge them, he claimed that the attack was politically motivated.
The protesters also shouted several slogans.
In another instance, unknown miscreants fired some rounds at the residence of one Elangbam Singhajit who is an active worker of NPP last night at around 11 .
It is alleged that the miscreants came in one car (A-Star ) with no registration number and shot four rounds toward the house while a group of youth playing carrom.
Reportedly, a team of police examined the area and found three canisters of 9mm pistol while the fourth one was found in the bedroom of Singhajit this morning.
