Imphal, February 20 2022:
AICC leader Rahul Gandhi would be arriving here on Monday to address an election rally.
While confirming Rahul's visit during a media briefing at Congress Bhawan on Sunday, AICC election observer Jairam Ramesh asserted that Congress will return to power both in the state and at the Centre.
Jairam said that Rahul Gandhi will address an election rally and meet PCC members and leaders of other political parties in the Manipur Secular Progressive Alliance.
Last time, Congress formed government in the state in 2002 and at the Centre in 2004.Similarly, the party will return to power in the state in 2022 and at the Centre in 2024, he said.
People of the state want a change and to bring the state out of the dark period under BJP government.
The government has failed to conduct ADC and local body elections, failed to conduct MPSC recruitment and violated democratic rights, he said, while calling the Modi and Biren governments as failed governments.
Election is, in another word, a fight among the political parties.
In democracy, the majority party is given the chance to form the government and choose their leader.
However, in 2017, despite emerging as the single largest party, Congress was denied the opportunity to form the government.
Congress will emerge as the single largest party this time too and it will definitely form the government, he maintained.
Bhakta Charan Das said that Rahul Gandhi will offer prayer at Shaheed Minar after his arrival.
From there, he will visit Nupilal Complex to offer tributes before attending a poll rally at Hapta Kangjeibung.
The state wants a change but BJP does not want to make the state a developed one, he alleged and also accused BJP of disrupting political campaign of Congress party and deliberately keeping AFSPA in the state.
