Jiribam, February 20 2022:
Janata Dal (United) Jiribam Mandal president M K Badain has clarified that the cash, flags and banners reportedly seized on Saturday have no connection with party's candidate from Jiribam AC Ashab Uddin.
While maintaining the cash was party's office fund, the mandal president told newspersons its office here on Sunday that the said amount was donation collected from public for office fund.
The donation was supposed to be used for construction of new office of the party as it has been newly established in the state along with opening of party units in Barak Circle and the fund along with flags and banners were handed over to Taj Uddin, who was driving the vehicle for transporting the items, he explained.
Badain continued that it is very wrong that the videos and photos of the incident have been circulated claiming that the money seized belonged to Ashab Uddin, thus creating confusion amongst the people of Jiribam.
The party has documentation to prove that the seized cash was party's fund.
A complaint has been filed by the JDU to the election authority in this regard, he said.
The press conference was also attended by Mandal general secretary Th Meghajit Singh and office secretary Nakiuj Jamal Choudhury.
