MNCA Plate Tournament : SSU seal 71-run victory over SDC for second victory

SSU, Singjamei Kakwa clinched an easy 71 run victory over SDC, Laipham Khunou for the second straight Group B win in the ongoing 7th MNCA Plate Tournament at Model Hr Secondary School and Oriental College ground.
SSU opted to bat first today after winning the toss and piled up a modest total of 239 runs for all wickets down in 38.1 overs as SDC bowlers made a concerted effort.
SSU then held SDC for 168 in the chase for the big win.
Dingku G topscored for SSU in their innings with 47 runs off 42 balls followed by Shamurailatpam Deepankar Sharma (34), Rupachandra (33) and Robertson Th (24) .
Thangjam Somorjit (13) and Jayananda P (15) also made double digit scores for SSU late on as SDC's Bollanath (2/31), Donny (2/51), Thangboy Doungel (2/ 54) and Khundrakpam Subhachandra (2/22) claimed two wickets each.
In reply, SDC struggled from the beginning and succumbed to 168 runs in 38.5 overs despite Bollanath's 40 and significant scores from Konjengbam Monish (31) and Thangboy Doungel (20).Saikhomba Thongam (3/ 39) and Sougrakpam Douglas (2/26) proved trouble makers for SDC in the chase while Dingku G, Jayananda, Irengbam Shyamson and Sh Deepankumar Singh claimed a wicket each to help apply break.
SSU Gurumayum Dingku who scored 47 runs and picked a wicket was adjudged man of the match.
Yesterday, SHADOW-Thangmeiband pulled off a convincing 6 wicket win over RRCC for the second win in three matches.
Thanks to Paras Sharma's 5-wicket haul (5/29) and a two wicket haul by Sagatpam Lanchenba (2/7), RRCC who opted to bat first, were bundled out for 126 runs in 24.3 overs despite Haojalen Kipgen's knock of 41 runs and then chased down the target in 22.3 overs with 6 wickets left in the hands.
Paras Sharma hit a half century (54 off 48 balls) to help SHADOW seal the victory and eventually walked away with the man of the match trophy.
RRCC's David Das picked up three wickets in this innings but it had little effect on the chase as their target proved too small for SHADOW.
RRCC-Churachandpur will play AKSDO-Khangabok Today in the next match tomorrow.
