Imphal, January 07 2023:
KLASA, Keinou lost its opportunity to participate in the Hero Second Division I-league due to its indiscipline and failure to fulfil the criteria set by All India Football Federation (AIFF), All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) has stated.
Addressing a press meet here on Saturday, AMFA president Moirangthem Ratankumar said that AIFF asked AMFA on December 8 last year to nominate the champion team of the 15th Manipur State League 2022-23 for the 2nd Division I-league.
AIFF also asked for Rs 2 lakh entry fee along with a security deposit of Rs 25 lakh for participation in the tournament.
KLASA won the Manipur State League 2022-23, but its supporters and team officials created ruckus and even vandalised the office of AMFA after the final match.
Consequently, AMFA's executive committee, in a meeting, decided to take up disciplinary action against KLASA and resolved not to nominate the team for the 2nd Division I-league.
The meeting also resolved to nominate Kshetri Iril Mapal Youth Club, Kshetrigao, which secured the fifth place in the Manipur State League, to the 2nd Division I-league instead of KLASA.
The decision to send the fifth place team was taken after the teams in the second to fourth place expressed their inability to follow the criteria set by AIFF, he explained.
