Missing driver found dead, indefinite bandh called

Imphal, January 07 2023:
Yanglem Priyobrata, a passenger van driver from Nachou Awang Leikai, who went missing since December 30 last year, was found dead in Phesama area of Nagaland on Saturday morning.
A team of Iribung police station headed by OC Inspector P Poujeanlung and SI Th Rajiv reportedly arrested one Heisnam James Singh (31), son of Heisnam Kumar Singh of Lamboi Khongnangkhong, from Mantripukhri on Saturday in connection with the case.
The accused James admitted to taking the ECCO van of Priyobrata and mortgaging the same at Heinoupok to one Roshan for Rs 2.5 lakh.
The accused was been handed over to Bishnupur Police Station on Saturday at 10.30 am.
Meanwhile, a public meeting held at Nachou Awang Leikai formed a JAC and nominated N Jadu, L Surchandra and L Menjor as the convenor, co-convenor and publicity secretary respectively.
The public meeting resolved to call an indefinite bandh along Tiddim road from Monday 6 am while demanding justice for Priyobrata.
The public meeting also demanded the government to investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators of the crime to justice.
They also demanded the government to pay a compensation of Rs 30 lakh to the wife and three children of Priyobrata, hand over his Eeco Van MN01AS 7696 to his bereaved family and provide a suitable government job to next of kin of the deceased.
