SSU brush aside SDC by 71 runs

Imphal, January 07 2023:
SSU (Singjamei Kakwa) recorded a resounding 71-run victory against SDC (Laipham Khunou) in a Group B match of the 7th MNCA Plate Tournament on Saturday.
Electing to bat, SSU posted a competition total of 239/10 in 38.1 overs with efforts from Gurumayum Dingku Sharma (47), Shamurailatpam Deepankar Sharma (34), Rupachandra (33), Robertson (24), Jayananda P (15) and Thangjam Somorjit (13).In the process, the Singjamei side lost two wickets each to Bollanath, Donny, Thangboy Doungel and Khundrakpam, with one falling to Konjengbam Monish.
SSU then dished out a disciplined bowling display to control the proceedings of a major part of SDC's run chase, barring fighting knocks from Bollanah (40) and Konjengbam Monish (31), before wiping out the Lamlai Khunou squad for 168 in 38.5 overs.
Saikhomba Thongam led the SSU attack by claiming three scalps while Sougrakpam Douglas picked up two wickets, with Dingku, Jayananda, Irengbam Shyamson and Shamurailatpam Deepankar accounting for one each.
Gurumayum Dingku Sharma walked home with the men of the match trophy for his 47 runs and one wicket.
Earlier on Friday, SHADOW (Thangmeiband) beat RRCC (Churachandpur) by six wickets in their Group A encounter.
RRC batted first and were all out for 126 in 24.3 overs.
Paras Sharma was the chief destroyer for SHADOW as he took five wickets from his 7.3 overs.
After their prolific bowling performance, SHADOW took 22.3 overs to achieve the target courtesy of a fine knock by Paras Sharma (50), backed by an unbeaten 17 from Sagatpam Lanchenba.
The Thangmeiband side lost four wickets in their run chase.
