e-Services Manipur was given the award under the category-Public Digital Platforms-States.
While Manipur was placed in the gold standard in the category, Duare Sarkar (West Bengal) bagged platinum.
It may be noted that the Digital India Awards instituted in 2009 is one of a kind in India honouring the efforts of different Government entities in the digital realm.
The awards are instituted under the aegis of National Portal of India to encourage and honour innovative digital solutions by Government entities at all levels.
The Project team of e-Services Manipur who received the award includes Namban Deben.
Director (IT), Information Technology as Initiative lead with members Gurumayum Robert Sharma, Joint Director (IT), Lupesh Khaidem, Informatics Officer, and Thounaojam Munikanta Singh, Consultant (PM/TM), (SeMT) of the Department of Information Technology, Government of Manipur.
e-services Manipur, a Mission Mode Project with 35 nos of end-to-end online services for 9 Departments under Government of Manipur, was launched during 2016 covering the then 9 districts of the State where citizens can avail services like birth certificate, ST/SC/OBC certificates, domicile certificate, income certificate, registration certificate for employment exchange, etc without having to go physically to the offices concerned.
Further, with the creation of 7 new districts in the State, e-District Project was augmented and now is operational in all 16 districts.
The success of the project is evident from the number of transactions (18,51,601) clocked till November 22, 2022 .
During the pandemic, e-District/e-Services helped in ensuring social distancing & less physical contact.
With e-District, citizens have easy access to Government services with minimum procedural formalities through authorised service centres like the Common Service Centre thereby reducing the usage of own vehicle or public transport which ultimately reduces carbon emission.
Meanwhile, a proposal for e-services Manipur 2.0 is under preparation and it is envisaged to add 35+ more online services from different line Departments leveraging emerging technologies and data driven platforms.
This platform is planned to act as a single digital platform of Government of Manipur for availing all the Government services (G2C, G2G, G2B) .
