Imphal, April 03 2023:
Takhellambam Ramananda who delivered a highly offensive and blasphemous speech against Meitei and some other communities has tendered an apology to the public.
In a video message circulated through social media, Ramananda said, "My statement was a mistake.
I love Meitei community as well as the Meitei traditions.
I don't harbour any disrespect.
"I was invited to a Gospel Outreach Programme organised by the Sagang Baptist Church on March 26" .
"At the programme, I preached many truths and doctrines but unfortunately I spoke offensively and slammed a custom of the Kom community", Ramananda said.
"The same custom is also practised by the Meitei community.
I have realised the anger of the Meitei community against my offensive remarks", he said.
"I've come across the sharp and deeply hurt reaction of Rajya Sabha MP and Manipur king Leishemba Sanajaoba.
I'm sorry for the offence", he continued.
"I was seen as a man who did not have any respect for the community, its religion and customs because of my speech but it was a mistake.
"I tender my apology to one and all for my mistake", Ramananda said.
