Imphal, April 03 2023:
Demanding the implementation of National Register of Citizens (NRC) and not to provide any benefits of Governmental programmes to the outsiders, a sit-in protest was staged today at Langdum in Keirao Assembly Constituency.
One of the protestors, Hidam ongbi Kamala of Langdum Lairembi Leikai while speaking at the occasion categorically stated the influx of non-indigenous people in Manipur is the major cause of the vulnerable condition of the indigenes since their due benefits and opportunities are being diverted to these outsiders.

She expressed that it is really unfortunate to find that non-locals are being registered in voter list of some places in Chanam Sandrok and Keirao Wangkhem which falls under Keirao AC and some of them are even enlisted for Governmental schemes such as PMJAY.
Such anomalies will rob the indigenes of their deserved rights, she lamented.
Stating that the protest is staged to prevent the entry of non-locals in Langdum village, she urged the State to implement NRC and ensure that non-locals without inner line permit are not allowed entry in the State.
