89th Zeliangrong Solidarity Day observed

Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) observed the 89th Commemoration of Zeliangrong Solidarity Day (Chuk-Thoibe/Chuk-Thoibo/Chuk-Sumei) at its Kakhulong head office, Paona Bazar, here, on April 1 .
In a release, ZU (AMN) secretary Pantijai Newmai stated that the observance was held in remembrance of the bold steps taken by the elders who took an oath called 'Chuk-Thoibe/Chuk-Thoibo/Chuk-Sumei' on April 1, 1934 to stop 'Sangna Rih', the inter village feuds in which Zeliangrong people were killing and aveng ing each other, thereby creating disunity, hatred and enmities among the people of the community.
The observance was attended by ZU (AMN) president Azang Rongmei, vice president Athai Kamei, secretary (administration) K Poushinglung, former president Jangamlung Panmei, KAMA president Atongpi Kamei as presidium members and ZU (AMN) former president Prof Meijinlung Kamson as resource persons.
The speakers at the event emphasised that unity and brotherhood among all kindred communities i.e., Zeme, Liangmei, Rongmei/Kabui and Inpui to stand united as one is the need of the hour.
ZU (AMN) further mentioned that the programme was also attended by leaders of RNCM Imphal Luangrian, KAMA, ZUBSA, ZU Imphal Zone, ZU Tamenglong Zone, Makuiluongdi villagers and Zeliangrong leaders.
