Mangka to tour Switzerland, France

Manipuri folk artiste Mangka Mayanglambam and two others from Manipur will tour Switzerland and France from April 11 to 18 during which she will perform and interact with the artistes of the two countries.
In a release, MaolKeki Foundation informed that Mangka, from Laihui Ensemble, will be accompanied by her father & Laihui artistic director Mangangsana Mayanglambam, who will provide musical and vocal support along with Foundation's head of projects Nirupa Sanjenbam, who will provide management support during the tour which is designed to raise awareness on Manipur and Manipuri art and culture.
Mangka will perform at three locations in Switzerland and two in France.
The tour will include a collaborative session with well-known Swiss Alphorn player Enrico Lenzin and Franco German artiste Angela Sofia Sterzer, who teaches Manipuri dance in Paris.
This will be the first collaboration between Manipuri and Swiss artistes to create a unique form of music from the 'Pena' and the Alphorn, a traditional Swiss wind instrument, it added.
The release also mentioned that highlights of the tour will be performance at the India Day Event in Riehen, Basel Stadt, Switzerland on April 15 and another one at the Caveau du Cafe litteraire, Saint Louis, France on April 14, both of which are open to the public.
Other sessions are invitation-only and include a workshop at the Swiss TPH, Allschwil, Switzerland, a Masterclass at the Conservatoire de Musique et de Danse, Saint Louis, France and a function in Bern, Switzerland, it informed.
The Foundation further conveyed that the tour is being supported and enabled by Gov ernment of Manipur, Manipur State Tourism Department, European Manipuri Association, Association of Friends of India Basel, Riehen Lebenskultur, Swisslos-Fonds Basel-Stadt, MaolKeki Foundation and Balmetica: Swiss Made Physiotherapy Cream.
