"3.45 lakh rural households provided tap water"

Out of the total 4.52 lakh households in rural areas of the state, 3.45 lakh households have been provided tap water as of March 29, 2023, a report of the ministry of Jal Shakti said.
According to the ministry report, a total of 4.52 lakh households in rural areas of Manipur are to be given tap water connection and drinking water.
Out of the total households, 4,000 households have been given tap water connection in the year 2019-20 and 1.96 lakh households in 2020-21 .
Tap water connection was given further to 70,000 households in the year 2021-22 and 48,000 in the year 2022-23, the report said.
According to the report, tap water connection in rural areas of the state reached 70.59 percent of the total households while 3.45 lakh households have been provided drinking water through pipeline as of March 29, 2023, the report said, adding that 76.33 percent of the total households having tap water connection have been provided drinking water.
The report further said that Central government in partnership with state governments introduced the Jal Jeevan Mission in the year 2019 to enable every rural household in the country have access to potable water through tap water connection.
In the last three and half years, 8.36 crore households in rural areas of the country have been provided tap water connection as reported by states/UTs till March 29, 2023.Considering total households in rural areas of the country to be 19.43 crore as on March 29, 2023, around 11.59 crore (59 percent) households are reported to have tap water connection/supply in their homes, the report said.
