Memo denouncing OROP submitted to Governor, CM

Denouncing the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme announced by the Union government, All Manipur Ex-Servicemen Committee (JCOS, Jawans, Veer Naris & Widows) submitted a memorandum to the Governor and the Chief Minister of Manipur on Monday.
Addressing a press meet in this regard at Rajya Sainik Board Manipur, Lamphel on Monday, Committee executive member Honorary Captain S Babu remarked that the OROP scheme announced by the government is not for the benefit of Personnel Below Officer Rank (PBOR) JCOs, Jawans, Veer Naris & Widows and as such, denounced the same.
He then extended support to the ongoing protest against the scheme at Jantar Mantar, Delhi, while adding that memorandums in this regard will be submitted to the Prime Minister and the Defence Minister.
Pointing out that there are around 12,000 ex-servicemen (Army, Navy and Air Force) in Manipur alone; he said that the ex-servicemen have been making huge contributions to the state's economy, bringing in a total of Rs 30 crore into the state.
Thus, he appealed to the Governor and the Chief Minister to support the ex-servicemen's protests.
Meanwhile, ex-servicemen in Thoubal district under the aegis of All Ex-Servicemen (JCOs/OR) Association, Manipur held a protest meeting at the Multipurpose Hall of Thoubal Achouba on Monday, denouncing the ORPO-2 Circular of the central government.
The meeting was attended by AFESWA executive member secretary (Retd) Subedar M Khogendra, Honorary Capt P Khelen Singh, Honorary Capt S Babu and Zilla Sainik Board secretary S Yaima along with other retired personnel and widows of martyred soldiers.
During the meeting, the participants held placards inscribed with slogans like "We demands settlement of anomalies in OROP-2", "Make equal MSP for all ranks", "Inclusion of OROP for PMR", "Disposition of disparity in Disability Pension", etc.
Speaking on the occasion, Capt S Babu urged for revision and modification of OROP-2 .
The demands of ex-servicemen regarding OROP-2 are mainly about equal Military Service Pay (MSP), equal Disability Pension, equal Fitment allowance and High allowance, equal ex-gratia for all ranks, awarding Gallantry Awards to real heroes, raising Enhance Rate Family Pension to 67-years of age, rectifying the injustice in 7th pay for effective distribution of OROP-2 benefits.
A memorandum in this regard will be soon be submitted to the President, Prime Minister, Defence Minister and state government, he added.
