The Manipur Drivers' Association and other associations affiliated to it have sought immediate attention of the State Government towards many problems faced by sand transporters on Imphal-Dimapur highway.
The Manipur Drivers Association, Senapati District Truck Owners' Association, All Manipur Gorkha Drivers and Owners Association and the Senapati District Truck Drivers Union held a joint meeting at the office of the Senapati District Truck Owners Association today.

Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Senapati District Truck Owners Association spokesman Adahri Mao expressed strong displeasure against the frequent disturbances made to trucks transporting sand from outside the State.
A truck which was transporting sand was halted at Motbung a few days back even after the necessary TP had been obtained.
Although the authority concerned has been asked to explain why the truck is still detained, no response has been forthcoming till date, Adahri Mao said.
He then appealed to the authority concerned to explain why the truck is detained till date.
Transporters transporting different items on the National Highways have been facing many problems in obtaining transit passes.
They are often told that the internet is down or the Forest staff have fallen asleep, he said.
The meeting resolved to call on Chief Minister N Biren and Forest & Environment Minister Th Biswajit and highlight the problems faced by sand transporters and other transporters.
