Imphal, June 05 2023:
Thangmeiband MLA Kh Joykisan has appealed to hospitals including private ones to provide free treatment to people who have affected due to violence in the state.
Addressing a press meet held at his Khoyathong res-idence on Sunday, Joykisan assured that he will bear all the cost of treatment of any injured people from his con-stituency.
The MLA also disclosed that he has written to all private hospitals under his constitu-ency to waive the treatment cost of violence affected peo-ple, while adding that if the hospitals do not reply within two days he will consider their response as negative.
He said it is high time that deliberations should be held on why the violence has not sub-sided in the state even after one month.
Hence, as per Manipur Legislative Assembly's rule and procedure and conduct of business a special assembly sitting can be held to discuss the matter, he suggested.
Joykisan also opined that people instigating violence be it Meetei or Kuki should be seen as people against the society.
Mentioning that MLAs should visit the affected ar-eas, he conveyed that during his stay at Kumbi and Phay-eng he realised that the vio-lence affected people do not want peace just for its sake but want measures that will ensure long-term peace and understanding amongst the communities to ensure that no such violence do erupt again in future.
He continued that the gov-ernment should consider such measures and form a policy in this regard.
