Gorkha delegation seeks Governor's intervention

Imphal, June 05 2023:
A delegation of Ne-pali-speaking Gorkha com-munity of the state repre-sented by Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangha Manipur State Branch and All Manipur Gorkha Ex-Servicemen (De-fence & CAPF) Association on Monday met Governor Anusuiya Uikey and sub-mitted a memorandum ap-prising her of the hardships and grievances faced by the Gorkha minority community in the wake of the volatile situation.
In a release, Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangha Manipur publicity and information secretary Dewau Kumar Ch-hetly said that the delegation requested the Governor to bring out an amicable solu-tion, settlement and peace in the state considering the hardships and difficulties faced by the people of all communities.
The untold hardships and bleak future staring at the common and innocent peo-ple cannot be neglected or remain unseen.
The present crisis seriously disturbing peace and tranquillity would only lead to regression of the state.
The mistrust and misunderstanding among the communities has kept the bonding hearts apart, it added.
The release continued that the Gorkha communi-ty equally shares the pains and miseries faced by the all and appealed all to work for restoring peace in the state.
The Gorkha community as a neutral community mostly residing in buffer areas in both the hills and valley have played a natural role to avoid direct confrontations in such ethnic clashes in the past and also in the present one have extended humanitarian aid to all the displaced persons of the relief camps, it conveyed.
The release further said that the Gorkha people residing in the state for generation always pray for peace and is desirous to play a positive role in whatever capacity to bring settlement and peace in the state.
