Women vendors to halt work for three days

Imphal, June 05 2023:
In view of the restive situation in the state and as a mark of solidarity, wom-en vendors of Khwairmaband Keithel will halt their day's work for three days from June 6 to 8 .
In a release, Khwairamband Keithel wom-en vendors informed that a meeting will also be held on June 8 at the Keithel (market) and appealed to the women vendors, street vendors and shops in Paona Keithel and Thangal Keithel to support and take part in the meeting.
Similarly, Leimarol Apunba Lup, Kanglei Sintha Semkat Lup and Chirom Leikai Nupi Lamjing Lup will also suspend their activities from June 8 to 10 .
A release jointly issued by the three or-ganisations questioned how long people will pay floral tributes when several sons of the soil lay down their lives.
Leaders of the state may think that peace and normalcy is restored as they live in their AC rooms, but the mothers, people who lost their near ones and houses reduced into cinders have been bitterly searching for peace.
Post Amit Shah's appeal to the people for restoring peace and normalcy, violence con-tinues in several areas, the release continued.
Regarding CM's statement that peace and normalcy is returning, it questioned whether burning of houses including MLA's residence is a sign of peace in the state.
