Imphal, June 05 2023:
Coordinating Com-mittee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has appealed to transporters not to take the NH 2 even though Committee on Tribal Unity (COTU) de-clared temporary suspension of the blockade.
Addressing a press meet at its Uripok office here on Monday, COCOMI coordinator Jeetendra Ningomba opined that inability of the central security forces to clear the blockade along the stretch of only about 8 km along the NH 2 is a serious matter.
Moreover, the way COTU reopened the highway with certain restrictions seems to have some ulterior motive, he cautioned and added that COCOMI strongly condemns an organisation controlled by narco- terrorists laying siege on the highway.
He then urged to all transporters to refrain from travelling along the highway until and unless the government reopens the highway effectively and provides adequate security.
COCOMI media coordinator Th Somorendro said that it will launch series of intense agita-tion as the Central government has failed to take up measures to control the violence.
He ap-pealed to Meira Paibi organi-sations of different localities to carry out human chain holding Meira on Tuesday from 8 pm to 9 pm.
He also appealed to all to use slogans like "Replace Assam Rifles with other force", "Take up strict action against Kuki narco- terrorists" , and "Take up strict actions against Kuki militants' among others.
He further urged local MLAs, pradhans, corporators, coun-cillors and ward members to extend active support to Tues-day's protest.
