Imphal, June 05 2023:
With regards to the circulation of a "fake" video depicting casualties of a particular unit of Assam Rifles in Manipur, PRO (Defence) Kohima & Nagaland has clarified that neither has any such clash between Assam Rifles and Manipur Police occurred, nor has any casualties been sustained.
Clarifying that the video is of a training activity of Indian Army held in Punjab in 2021, it added that this is yet another failed attempt by inimical elements to build hate against those at the forefront of preventing violence.
Inimical elements have made multiple failed attempts to malign the image of security forces in general and Assam Rifles in particular.
A malicious campaign by an unethical collusion of people both internal and external is being run against this battalion which has been at the forefront in preventing incidents of large scale arson and possible loss of human lives, it asserted.
Stating that the Army and AR will continue to work relentlessly till normalcy is restored, it appealed to all sections of media to exercise greater than normal prudence during these trying times in Manipur.
