Imphal, June 05 2023:
Apart from apprising that people have lost faith in Assam Rifles deployed in the state due their unethical actions, BJP Manipur Pradesh vice president Ch Chidanan-da Singh has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to remove Assam Rifles from sensitive areas.
In a memorandum sub-mitted to the Prime Min-ister, Ch Chidananda said central forces are contrib-uting enormously in bring-ing peace and normalcy in the state amidst the tense situation and appreciated their efforts.
Unfortunately, the Assam Rifles deployed in the state are apparently not performing their duties sincerely.
The action of 37 AR CO couple of days back at Sugnu police station in Bishnupur district has blot-ted reputation of the Assam Rifles and forced the people to resort to road blocks to stop their movement, the memorandum mentioned and cautioned that people might lose faith on other central forces because of unethical actions of AR.
The memorandum urged the PM to review responsi-bilities extended to Assam Rifles urgently and remove the force from vulnerable areas of the state and deploy neutral central/state forces in such areas.
He also urged the PM to take stringent action against Kuki militants who violate ground rules of Sus-pension of Operation (SoO) .
