Skill mela / stakeholders' consultation prog held

Imphal, March 28 2023:
Manipur Society for Skill Development, Department of Labour, Employment and Entrepreneurship organised a one-day state skill mela cum stakeholders' consultation programme at Manipur Trade and Expo Centre, Lamboi Khongnangkhong, here, on Tuesday.
Labour & employment minister Heikham Dingo, and skill, labour & employment and entrepreneurship secretary B John Langtinkhumar attended the programme as chief guest and president respectively.
National Skill Development Corporation regional head Dr Smita Chetia Taluktar and Manipur Society for Skill Development mission director LN Kashung were also present as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Dingo called upon the students and youth to skill themselves in their passionate fields and bring innovation in the society instead of just waiting for government jobs.
He expressed satisfaction on seeing students and youth participating in the skill mela and said that skilling the youth is a must to improve the state's economy.
India is a country with immense youth power and skilling the youth of the state would help in bringing self-sufficiency in the state, Dingo maintained.
The minister also highlighted various initiatives and schemes taken up by the Biren government to empower youth and encourage entrepreneurship among them, while urging the youth to take benefits of these schemes.
Different stakeholders including National Skill Development Corporation, Regional Directorate of Skill Development Entrepreneurship, Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission, Directorate of Craftsman Training, state government departments, Sector Skill Council, MSME-Technology Centre, Manipur Chamber of Commerce & Industries, banks, skill training providers, NGOs and incubation centres among others participated in the event by setting up 46 stalls.
They provided awareness and information on government sponsored skill courses and job opportunities abroad.
On-site enrolment for different training courses was also facilitated by different institutions.
