Training on 'Nurturing Gifted Child' begins

A three-day training programme for master trainers on 'Nurturing Gifted Child', which is being jointly organised by Sa-magra Shiksha, State Implementing Society, state project office and department of clinical psychology, RIMS as part of the government's Gifted Child Programme commenced from Tuesday at Samagra Shiksha, state project office, Babupara, here.
The Programme envisages identification of gifted students studying from 1st to 8th standard.
Speaking at the inaugural function of the training programme, Samagra Shiksha, state project director Laishram Nandakumar explained that the assessment exercise to be taken up at the district and state level will help in identifying gifted children.
Identifying innate talents of children will help in making career of students so that they can excel in their respective fields, he said.
Samagra Shiksha Manipur, state gifted child coordinator Diana Thangjam said that the National Education Policy 2020 aims at supporting gifted students and students with special needs.
Almost every child has their own inherent quality and innate talents.
Identifying them is the key to produce successful individuals in different fields with proper support and guidance, she said, while highlighting the importance of the master trainers' training in implementing the initiative.
RIMS assistant professor Dr L Roshan spoke on ways to identify gifted children and tools to be used in evaluating them.
The training programme is being participated by 70 master trainers Which include assistant inspectors of 17 ZEOs, APOs, resource, persons (RTE), and special teachers of Samagra Shiksha Manipur.
