Imphal, March 28 2023:
Meetei Erol Eyek Loinasillol Apunba Lup (MEELAL), Kangleipak cautioned that strict measures will be taken up to trace the draft proposal filed in connection with the inclusion of Manipuri language as a classical language of India.
MEELAL in a press release raised concern over the pending progress of the above draft proposal file submitted at the State Secretariat seven months back.
MEELAL declared that if the details of the progress of the said file is not made public within April 5 by the authorities concerned, steps will be taken up along with Wakhal Mannaba Apunba (WAMA) to trace the file in the State Secretariat and the authorities concerned and officials will be held responsible for any unwanted outcome.
It maintained that such irresponsible acts from the part of the Government authorities will be a setback in the earnest efforts made by language enthusiasts and natives of the State who have been striving for the inclusion of Manipuri language in the classical languages of India.
Further MEELAL also pledged support to the demand raised by Manipur Youth Front Assam (MYFA) to recognise Manipuri language as an associate official language of Assam in the interest of the Manipuris and Pangals residing in the State.
In view of the above, MEELAL appealed to the State Government to send supporting documents to the Assam Govt in connection with the demand.
