NIA court grants bail to Mark Haokip

Imphal, March 28 2023:
The court of Special Judge (NIA), Imphal West on Tuesday granted bail to Mark Thangmang Haokip alias Mark T Haokip (38) of Molnom, Churachandpur, who was arrested in connection with an FIR registered by Imphal PS, on execution of a PR bond of Rs 2 lakh.
Mark Haokip had been placed in judicial custody on June 9, 2022, after he was arrested by Imphal PS on May 30 the same year, in connection with an FIR registered under various sections of IPC and UA (P) .
Following the rejection of his first bail application filed on June 21, the accused filed a second plea on November 2 to the High Court of Manipur.
The second plea was also rejected and he filed a third one on January 17 this year.
During the court hearing, the Investigating Officer submitted a charge sheet under different sections of IPC and UA (P) along with assurances to the court to submit relevant documents for prosecution sanction from authorities concerned, and supplementary charge sheet after getting hold of necessary evidence, at the earliest.
When the accused filed another bail application at a later date, the IO submitted the supplementary charge sheet.
The counsel of the accused submitted to the court that his client had been in judicial custody since June 9, 2022.In addition, the charge sheet submitted by the IO is incomplete as it lacks the prosecution sanction.
To sum up, Mark T Haokip had been falsely accused in the case.
After listening to the submissions, the court granted bail to Mark Haokip on execution of a PR bond of Rs 2 lakh and two sureties (by gazetted officer) of the same amount.
It further ordered Mark not to try to flee or hide while out on bail and must present himself before the court whenever summoned.
The accused must further refrain from preventing the prosecution witnesses from making their statements.
Also, the accused is prohibited from leaving the state without the permission of the court.
The court then disposed the two bail applications filed by the accused.
