Sensitisation prog on JJ, POCSO Act held

Kakching, March 28 2023:
A day-long sensitisation programme for district level officers of Kakching on Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012 and Child Marriage was held at NIC conference hall, Kakching DC complex on Tuesday.
Delivering the presidential speech of the event, Kakching DC Somorjit Salam highlighted that wrong doers are more or less related with the victims.
Children born and brought up in a broken family and under an environment surrounded by drug use behaviour are generally influenced by activities which against the law of the land, he said and cautioned that there are elements who take advantage of the poor background of children and commit crimes against them thinking that no one will interfere.
He then stressed on the need for unity, love and respect among family members to prevent unwanted crimes.
As a part of the event, District Child Protection Officer - DCPU Konjengbam Anita delivered the keynote address while State Child Protection Society (SOPS), Department of Social Welfare programme officer Mala Lisham and DCPU, Kakching legal cum probation officer Reena Chanu Moirangthem spoke as resource persons on the topics "Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015" and "Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 and Child Marriage" respectively.
