Imphal, March 28 2023:
Indian Medical Association, Manipur State Branch ((IMA-MSB) has extended its support to the doctors and hospitals in Rajasthan who are protesting against the 'Right to Health Bill (RTH), 2023' passed by the Government of Rajasthan, which has provision for free treatment to everyone during emergencies at all public and private health facilities.
In a release, IMA president Dr RK Lenin and honorary state secretary Dr James Elangbam informed that the Bill includes provision of free treatment to everyone during emergencies in private sector also, while failing to define what constitutes an emergency.
"As practicing doctors we are concerned about the black law and the violence unleashed on the doctors in Rajasthan.
We condemn the excessive police action on doctors who are serving the nation selflessly and had defended the nation against Covid-19," it said.
IMA-MSB also mentioned that in support of doctors in Rajasthan it organised a demonstration and wore black badges.
Government of Rajasthan should roll back this black law, it further demanded.
