Prostitution den busted in Lilong

Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur has announced that it will be conducting drives to crack down on immoral activities being carried out in different places of the state.
Addressing a press meet at AMUCO office, Kwakeithel on Tuesday, Poirei Leimarol president Longjam Memchoubi informed that on receiving reliable information earlier in the day, volunteers of AMUCO, various Meira Paibi and women's organisations carried out a drive at the former NK Academy building in Meitei Lamkhai, which had been converted into a restaurant.
During the drive, an alleged pimp and 3 women, accused of indulging in flesh trade routinely at the location, were detained.
The team also seized liquor, gambling and other incriminating items from the location.
On questioning, the detainees disclosed that prostitution activities were carried out at the location from 3pm till 9-10 pm on daily basis.
Visitors to the alleged prostitution den included students and prominent persons, she conveyed.
Stating that such illegal activities are destroying the society, Memchoubi informed that the detainees were cautioned not to continue such immoral activities.
If they are found continuing the activities, they will be "re-taught" again.
Meanwhile, the organisation has already received information of similar activities being carried out in other places.
Thus, the organisation will be conducting drives in such places, she added.
