Bail for Mark Haokip

Mark Thangmang Haokip alias Mark T Haokip (38) of Molnom village, Churachandpur has been granted bail by the Court of Special Judge, Imphal West.
An order passed by the Court today said that Mark Thangmang Haokip may be granted bail on furnishing a PR bond of Rs two lakh with two sureties of the same amount.
The order mentioned that Mark Thangmang Haokip shall not abscond but present himself before the same Court on every date fixed.
The accused (Mark Thangmang Haokip) should not influence prosecution witnesses so as to dissuade them from disclosing facts before the Court and he should not leave the State of Manipur without prior permission of the Court, the order mentioned.
Notably, Mark Thangmang Haokip was arrested by Manipur Police from Kishangarh, New Delhi on May 24 last year before he was brought to Imphal on May 27 .
He was arrested on the charge of being the president of a separatist outfit named Government of People's Democratic Republic of Kukiland (GPDRK) and conspiring to wage or attempting to wage war against the Government of India.
A chargesheet filed against Mark Thangmang Haokip on November 24 last year said he was actively present in social media and his posts from time to time revealed that he was not only anti-Government but also abetted and instigated common people to fight against the Government and his acts were tantamount to hatching conspiracy or attempting to commit or advocate acts of terrorism.
He was also allegedly raising funds from different individuals for use in carrying out various terrorist activities.
His outfit (GPDRK) was allegedly working toward destabilizing the country which is a threat to the security of the State, said the chargesheet.
