Kakching, April 24 2024:
Sugnu meira paibi launched protest against the move to withdraw personnel of 167th Battalion Border Security Force (BSF) stationed at Sugnu Old Hospital complex.
The protesters stayed overnight in front of the gate of Old hospital since Tuesday while appealing to 'kill' them all first if the BSF personnel deployed for protecting life of the citizens are to be pulled out from Sugnu.
Speaking in this regard, a meira paibi activist named Khaidem Bijiya informed that people of Sugnu have started to gradually return and resettle at their respective homes.
As they have been demanding additional deployment of security forces in Sugnu for protection, the directive for withdrawal of BSF personnel from Sugnu is akin to exposing the people to potential risks, she denounced, while demanding that the order for withdrawal of BSF from Sugnu should be revoked.
The wish of the people is additional deployment of security forces in Sugnu so that people can live peacefully and without any fear, Bijiya conveyed, while recalling that a company of central security forces had already been withdrawn from Sugnu in connection with the Lok Sabha elections.
The assurance of the state government during the initial days of the conflict to send 100 state forces for protection of Sugnu remains unfulfilled, she denounced.
