Tributes paid to Padmashri Naba Wareppa

Imphal, January 19 2023: Tributes were paid to eminent personality and former Chairman of Manipur State Shumang Leela Council Academic Sub-Committee, (late) Padmashri Naba Wareppa today.

A State level condolence ceremony was held today at the residence of (late) Padmashri Naba Wareppa at Haobam Marak Thingel Ngangom Leikai jointly organised by Manipur State Shumang Leela Council and Indian People Theatre Association.

Manipur State Shumang Leela Council Chief Advisor Dr M Nara; president M Pumimashi Leima; lifetime president Ph Gunachandra Sharma; Theatre Director L Brajamohon; Shumang Leela artistes, members and many well wishers were present at the occasion.

The Council's lifetime secretary Sougrakpam Hemanta while speaking at the occasion lauded the enormous contributions of Padmashri Naba Wareppa for the upliftment of Shumang Leela art form for the past many years.

Acknowledging such contributions, he was honoured with Shumang Leela Council Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014 by the Council.

Apart from this he had won many accolades including best director award and so on, Hemanta added.
