AMAWOVA extends monetary assistance

Imphal, October 24 2026: The All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) has extended monetary assistance to victims injured in the October 19 Nongshum attack.

The monetary assistance was extended to the victims towards their treatment in connection with AMAWOVA's 37th foundation day, said the association's president, Wangkhem Ibemma.

The October 19 militant attack on people gathering firewood on Sunurok Uyok Ching killed three persons and injured three others.

Those killed in the attack have been identified as Arubam Ronil (35), Lairenlakpam Inaoba (57), both of Nongshum and Kshetrimayum Sushil (32) of Uyumpok village.

Ibemma said the association will further extend monetary assistance to the families of the deceased persons.

The monetary assistance is being extended to show solidarity to the victims and their families, Ibemma said.

AMAWOVA's annual foundation day musical event "Liklang Pareng" has been postponed considering the unrest facing the State, she added.

AMAWOVA was established on October 24, 1989 .
