Imphal, October 23 2026:
The sounds of banging utensils and electric poles echoed across Imphal and adjoining areas tonight as the Federation of Haomee (FoH) spearheaded a unique "noise protest" against the ongoing crisis in Manipur.
Simultaneously, large number of youths took to the streets on motorcycles and in cars, blaring horns continuously and creating severe traffic congestion across major roads in the capital.
Police resorted to firing tear gas shells and smoke bombs at the Western Gate of Kangla Fort to disperse a crowd that gathered near the historic landmark.

The public agitation was called by the Federation of Haomee to press several key demands, including immediate abrogation of SoO pact with Kuki armed groups, updating the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Manipur and an end to the Centre's alleged "divide and rule" policy in the State.
The protest commenced around 7 pm and continued till around 8 pm .
Anticipating trouble, security forces set up heavy barricades around the Western Gate of Kangla Fort.
However, as crowds grew larger, police fired tear gas shells and smoke bombs to disperse them.
