Senapati, October 22 2026:
The Poumai Naga Chilivai Naotoumai Me expressed concern and strong condemnation over the alleged character assassination of Tholu Rocky, Superintendent of Police(SP), Kamjong district, and his subsequent transfer reportedly fuelled by misinformation, false narratives, and unverified allegations circulated through fake social media accounts.
The union in a press release said that the spread of unverified information through social media can damage the reputation of individuals, undermine public trust, and influence important administrative decisions.
Therefore, the union urged the Government of Manipur to look into the circumstances surrounding the allegations and the subsequent transfer of Tholu Rocky, ensuring that the truth is established through a fair, impartial, and transparent process.
Tholu Rocky has been a man committed to serving the people and carrying out his responsibilities with dedication.
His contributions and service deserve to be assessed fairly, on the basis of facts ami due process, rather than through rumours, malicious narratives, or attempts to tarnish his character, the release said.
The union called upon the Goverment to ensure that justice is not only done but is also seen to be done.
The union appealed to the Government to take necessary steps to ensure justice, rebuild public confidence, and work towards a peaceful and harmonious Manipur.
"Let us not wait until more lives are lost, more families are broken, and more young futures are destroyed before we recognise our shared responsibility to bring peace to our land," the press release mentioned.
