Imphal, October 23 2026:
The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has questioned the agenda of the meeting held between Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand, former interlocutor for the peace talk with NSCN(IM) and the SoO groups, IPS AK Mishra and former Eastern General Officer Commanding in-Chief Lt Gen Rana Pratap Kalita at the Chief Minister's Secretariat on October 22, 2026 .
Speaking to media persons at their Kwakeithel office today, AMUCO president S Sanjoy asserted that any attempt to fragment Manipur will not be accepted under any circumstances.
He also vehemently condemned the killing of three innocent civilians allegedly by the proxy forces of the Government of India on October 19, 2026 at Khongbal Sunurok Uyok Hill.
Alleging that the Government of India has killed a number of innocent people using its proxy forces, Sanjoy asserted that there is a growing need for a strong mass movement in order to save Manipur.
He said that AMUCO and other organisations associated with it would launch different modes of mass agitation from October 24, 2026 against the alleged attempt of the Government of India and the State Government to completely destroy Manipur.
Referring to the meeting held between the Chief Minister and AK Mishra yesterday, the AMUCO president expressed strong suspicion whether the Government of India has initiated discrete steps to fragment Manipur.
Establishment of any type of autonomous body in Manipur whether in the line of Bodoland Territorial Council or otherwise will not be allowed, Sanjoy said.
Of all the Northeastern States, only Manipur, Assam and Tripura existed as separate States.
All the others existed as Autonomous District Councils before they were upgraded to the level of full fledged States, he said.
If the Government of India is scheming to pave the way for establishment of new State(s) out of Manipur by first setting up autonomous district councils, it will be opposed tooth and nail.
Saying that AMUCO and all the organisations working together with it strongly oppose the alleged attempt to fragment Manipur and set up new States, Sanjoy announced that they will launch different modes of mass movement from October 24, 2026 against the Government of India and the State Government.
A memorandum was submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 7, 2023 and it categorically said no to creation of political units based on communal lines, he recalled.
