Senapati, January 19 2023:
After Mao Council rejected the verdict of Tenyimi People's Organisation (TPO) over Kozirii/Dziiko land dispute issue, the Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland), an apex organisation of the Zeliangrong community across the three States has also rejected the same.
In a press release, Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN) informed that the association has time and again reiterated its position as stake-holder and landowner traditionally in the run up of the Meiko Rezai (Dzukou Valley) land dispute.
"However, the TPO verdict holds no wisdom for excluding the original land Owner in the settlement on a flimsy ground saying late submission of position paper by Yangkhullen village.
Ownership of land can never be discarded or disowned on the question of late or early claims.
ZB considered the verdict as a dark page and ill-gotten spot in the history of Tenymi Organisation", it added.
ZB (AMN) rejected the December 19, 2022 verdict of TPO, terming it as a compromise verdict completely lacking traditional values and customary practices in regard to land boundary handed down and honoured by the ancestor for ages.
"ZB (AMN) have given in written twice, the first dated March 22, 2021 and the second dated March 28, 2022, vividly stated that if the traditional land owner Yangkhullen, a Zeliangrong village is excluded as a stakeholder in the settlement, ZB (AMN) will not be a party in the settlement of the case", it added.
"ZB (AMN) still uphold our position because we cannot and would not part an inch of our God given land as a result of this compromise verdict", it concluded.
