Senapati, January 19 2023:
After Mao Council rejected the verdict of Tenyimi People's Organisation (TPO) over Kozirii/Dziiko land dispute, Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland), an apex organisation of the Zeliangrong community has also disapproved the same.
In a press statement, Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN) stated that it has time and again reiterated its position as the stake holder and land owner traditionally in the run up of Meiko Rezai (Dzukou Valley) land dispute.
The verdict of TPO holds no wisdom for excluding the original land owner in the settlement on a flimsy ground citing belated submission of position paper by Yangkhullen village.
Ownership of land can never be discarded or disowned on the question of late or early claims.
ZB considers the verdict as a dark page and ill-gotten spot in the history of TPO, it stated.
Therefore, ZB (AMN) rejects outright the December 19,2022 verdict of TPO and terms it as a compromised verdict completely lacking traditional values and customary practices with regard to land boundary handed down and honoured by ancestors for ages, the release maintained.
It added that, ZB (AMN) had given in writing twice, in March 2021 and March 2022, stating that if the traditional land owner Yangkhullen, a Zeliangrong village, is excluded as a stakeholder in the settlement, then ZB (AMN) will not be a party in the settlement of the case.
"ZB (AMN) still upholds its position because we cannot and would not part an inch of our God given land as a result of this compromised verdict," it Concluded.
