Governor visits Tamenglong, reviews development works

Governor La Ganesan on Thursday made his maiden visit to Tamenglong district headquarters and reviewed various developmental activities taking up in the district.
The Governor also interacted with the district level officers (DLOs), representatives of civil society organisations (CSOs), village chiefs, women leaders and students.
He gave patient hearing to issues and grievances raised by them and assured to extend all possible help in resolving outstanding issues in the larger interest of the public.
Speaking at the interaction programme held at the Multipurpose Hall in Apollo Ground in the district headquarters, La Ganesan said, "Issues pertaining to road, healthcare, education, etc., need special attention and should be addressed in a time bound manner.
All the issues raised by the people are genuine and therefore, I will ask the department concerned to pay their attention at the earliest".
He also assured the people that to ask the chief minister to look into the grievances and issues raised by them as soon as possible.
The Governor continued that Tamenglong is a beautiful place to visit and orange of the district is now very popular not only in the state but in every part of the country also.
He said, "Although there are issues in the marketing, it will be solved," he affirmed and further stated that roads are being built and "within a year, we will witness a sea change in the connectivity sector".
While reminding that youths are the pillars of the nation, La Ganesan opined that the youngsters should contribute towards nation building, adding that a strong nation is possible only when the youth are empowered with education.
Expressing concern over the increasing number of youths indulging in drug trafficking and abuses, the Governor said, "This has to be, in any case, prevented through collective efforts including the likeminded CSOs and people".
The state government has already started taking action against the poppy plantation which is welcomed by one and all, he added while appealing to the people to co-operate with the government in making Manipur, a drug-free state.
On Covid-19 vaccination, Ganesan credited government's prompt action with the unstinted cooperation from the general public that had helped overcome the dreaded disease.
He then appealed to the people to get vaccinated, saying it is the best way to defeat the pandemic.
The Governor also asked the district authorities to conduct a survey to find out TB patients and report to the department concerned so as to enable them to carry out remedial measures.
He also spoke about the importance of cleanliness in making a healthy and prosperous life.
Earlier, deputy commissioner (Tamenglong) Pawan Yadav made a power point presentation regarding various initiatives which are being taking up in the district, for the welfare of the people.
CSOs, student leaders submitted memoranda to the Governor asking for help in various sectors like healthcare, education, connectivity etc.
On his arrival at the helipad of the 44 Assam Rifles Battalion headquarters, the Governor was accorded a warm welcome by DC Pawan Yadav, SP Anupam; 44 AR.CO Col Rahul Singh and other officials.
He was accompanied by his secretary Bobby Waikhom during his visit.
