Thoubal, October 24 2026:
A large number of women from 14 villages under Nongpok Sekmai Police Station staged a sit-in protest today at NESA ground Nongpok Sekmai against the Nongshum killings.
The sit-in protest was held under the aegis of Nongpok Apunba Lup Meira Paibi.
The protesters used placards which read, 'We condemn Nongshum killings', 'Nab the killers and award punishment', 'Abrogate SoO pact with Kuki terrorists', and 'We condemn the atrocities of Kuki terrorists on the indigenous people of Manipur' and shouted slogans.
The protesters strongly denounced the Government's inept failure to resolve the Manipur crisis which has been plaguing the state inflicting immense pain and suffering to the indigenous people.
They expressed discontentment that the Kuki terrorists continue their atrocities on the indigenous people despite the Government's repeated assurance on restoration of peace and harmony.
Referring to the recent incidents of brutality on the indigenous communities of Naga and Meitei claiming many innocent lives, the protestors demanded the Government should step down if it cannot safeguard its own people.
