AMFA Cup: KSC steamroll TRUGPU 7-0; SYMROPIA pip USA in 9-goal thriller

16 goals were scored across two matches in the AMFA Cup 2022 on Sunday as KSC pummelled TRUGPU 7-0 and SYMROPIA overcame USA in a nine-goal thriller.
H Robinson Khongsai made the most of the rout in KSC's emphatic victory against TRUGPU in their Group B encounter at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.
Ginkholen Haokip opened the floodgates with a 14th-minute penalty conversion and Lungousem Kipgen doubled the lead in the 18th minute before H Robinson Khongsai upped the ante in the 45th minute to ensure KSC went into the second half taking a commanding 3-0 lead.
Then Robinson ran riot as he scored his second goal and team's fourth goal in the 55th minute before collected two more goals after converting in the 69th and 89th minute to steer KSC to a huge win.
In other Group B match, SYMROPIA fought off an early deficit to outscore USA 5-4 in a thrilling contest.
It was Shamjetshabam Boy Singh who gave USA the upper hand after finding the back of the net just two minutes into the game, but the side conceded an own goal in the 13th minute after an defensive error by Leihaorungbam Avinash.
SYMROPIA then put themselves in front when Kapkhanjhual T made his effort count in the 25th minute but their lead was short-lived as USA drew level in the 27th minute courtesy of Boy Singh's second goal.
SYMROPIA regained their lead in the 57th minute through Mangl ianthang Simte only to be cancelled out by USA's Thounaojam Suraj Meitei who struck in the equaliser in the 68th minute.
Then USA turned t he tables with a 74th-minute strike from Haobijam Tom.bi Singh but SYMROPIA recovered in matter of two minutes after Manglianthang netted his second and team's fourth goal.
The game had appeared as though it was heading for a 4-4 draw until T Helsuanpau fired home the decider in the dying seconds of st oppage and helped SYMPORIA seal the victory.
