Imphal, October 02 2022:
Departmental Social Welfare in collaboration with Indon Maipakpi Ningshing Mana Organising Committee, organised the distribution function of Indon Maipakpi Ningshing Mana for exemplary anganwadi workers of Heirok AC, at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound, here on Sunday.
The function was attended by Social Welfare minister Heikham Dingo as chief guest; Shija Hospitals & Research Institute chairman cum managing director Dr Kh Palin Singh as president while Social Welfare director Ng Uttam Singh and Share and Care (SAC) founder Dr Rk Lenin Singh were present as guests of honour.
In his speech, minister Heikham Dingo expressed hope that Social Welfare Department would become one of the most successful departments, while lauding the department director, staff and teams who are working hard to make this a reality.
He then urged for people's support in achieving the goal, adding the Department is tasked with monitoring the welfare of a person right from his/her time in the womb till old age.
The department may seem to be small but it has been working for the welfare of society.
As such, we must be proud of our service to the society and humanity, he said.
The minister then said that although the honorarium given to Anganwadi workers and helpers may be small, they play a key role in guiding the society.
Thus, he appreciated Indon Maipakpi Ningshing Mana Organising Committee and family for their initiative.
Urging the rich and wealthy to adopt the Anganwadi centres, Dingo appealed to all concerned to help in proper functioning of the Anganwadi centres.
Speaking on the occasion, director Ng Uttam observed that Anganwadi workers, helpers and VDF personnel are almost the same in the sense that they are taking in more responsibilities in addition to their own, despite receiving a small salary in return.
Their only demand since long has been to provide the honorarium regularly and for fixing the wages equal to the responsibilities they have been made to undertake.
Thus, after a detailed deliberation on their demand, a written request will be sub mitted to the Social Welfare minister soon, urging the cabinet to discuss provision for the utilising departments, to provide the TA&DA to the utilised Anganwadi workers and helpers.
As this is honorary work, he requested the workers and helpers not to fret over whether the TA&DA is more or less.
Remarking that Anganwadi workers and helpers are people who want to serve their localities, the director recounted the contributions and service df Indon Maipakpi.
As such, he urged the workers and helpers to strive to become like her, while requesting the rich and wealthy to donate the toys which they no longer used to Anganwadi centres so that the children at the centres can play with them.
Later, the 1st Indon Maipakpi Ningshing Mana was awarded to Anganwadi worker Laishram Syamashakhi Devi and helper Moirangthem Rameshwori Devi of the Anganwadi Centre, Heirok Part-II Mayai Leikai.
