Nat'l Games: L Ronaldo wins second gold medal as Manipur shine in cycling, weightlifting & rowing

Laitonjam Ronaldo Singh continued his peerless form by winning his second gold medal as Manipur collected two more gold medals in cycling while Konjengbam Roshilata Devi claimed the state's fourth gold in weightlifting, and the rowing team started off with a bang by collecting one gold and one bronze on the third day of the 36th National Games on Sunday.
Laitonjam Ronaldo produced another individual quality to clinch his second gold medal in the individual sprint event as David Beckhame of Andaman Nicobar finished behind and Esow of Andaman Nicobar completed the podium.
Earlier on Saturday, Ronaldo won his first individual gold medal in the men's 1km time trial with a time of 1:2.343.The state women's quartet of T Monorama Devi, M Sonali Chanu, Kh Rejiya Devi and I Matouleibi Devi dazzled in the 4km team pursuit, winning Manipur's first team gold medal in the cycling competition.
The state team clocked 5:02.077 to walk away with the yellow metal as Haryana bagged silver medal and Maharashtra took bronze medal.
Manipur's campaign in the rowing competition saw a flying start as the state pair of Huidrom Tendenthoi and Thangjam Priya won gold medal in the women's double scull event, while the quartet of Mayanglambam Merina, Hemam Roshni, M Monika and M Ceiya settled for bronze in the women's coxless four event where Kerala earned the top podium honours and Madhya Pradesh secured the silver medal.
Meanwhile, Sanasam Rubanna gave the state their first medal in gymnastics by bagging the bronze in the men's vault event on the third day of the National Games.
In weightlifting, K Roshilata Devi claimed a bronze medal.
Roshilata's total effort of 197 (snatch 87kg, clean & jerk 110kg) earned her the bronze in the 64kg class contest.
Jasvir Kaur of Punjab lifted a total of 200kg (snatch 87kg, clean & jerk 113kg) to win the gold medal as Andhra Pradesh's S Pallavi bagged the silver medal after falling short by 1kg (total 199kg).With the Sunday's results, Manipur's medal tally surged to 20 courtesy of four gold and one each of silver and bronze in cycling; three gold and one each of silver and bronze in weightlifting; one gold and one bronze in rowing; one gold in roller sports; one silver and three bronze in fencing; one bronze in gymnastics; and one bronze in wrestling.
