MPCC pays tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, Shastri

As did every year, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) observed the 153rd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and 118th birth anniversary of late Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri together at Congress Bhawan, BT Road, here, on Sunday.
After offering floral tributes to the two leaders, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader O Ibobi Singh said that Con gress party has always been trying to convert dreams of Mahatma Gandhi into reality and would do so.
He said that Mahatma Gandhi, known as father of the nation, took enormous responsibility in attainment of freedom of the nation from the British and his quality and value are increasing day by day.
Mahatma Gandhi's non-violence movement brought freedom of India from the colonial British and his movement is known significantly among people throughout the globe, Ibobi said, adding that Mahatma Gandhi considered cleanliness next to God and his birth anniversary is being observed as National Cleanliness Day across the nation nowadays.
While maintaining that India Cannot be a nation for a single community, O Ibobi said that all the communities in India are one and they shall live together for a long time inharmony.
He also said that Congress party always believe in secularism and anyone can follow a religion of his/her choice.
The observance function was also attended by MPCC president K Meghachandra, CWC member Gaikhangam, deputy CLP leader K Ranjit and other Congress leaders and workers.
