PFI leaders likely to be arrested soon

As the central government tightened its grip on Popular Front of India (PFI) after declaring the organisation unlawful and arresting several of its leaders in a nationwide raid in PFI offices last month, source said that NIA is likely to arrest some PFI leaders and activists in the state too.
News agency IANS reported that various law enforcing agencies led by NIA deputy superintendent of police JS Raukela, on September 22, raided various offices of PFI including their major office at Lilong in Thoubal district.
Sources said that some PFI leaders and activists in Manipur are likely to be arrested soon, the IANS report said.
Mention may be made that the raids in the state were conducted in two PFI offices, one located at Lilong and the other at Irong Chesaba in the presence of PFI Manipur State president Md Abdullah and general secretary Md Rafijuddin.
The NIA team seized several documents including resolution copies of PFI's meetings, aadhaar copies of two leaders, passbooks of bank accounts with Punjab National Bank, Manipur Rural Bank and State Bank of India, photocopies of press releases, photocopies of PFI constitution, ledgers containing funding of the organisation and mobile phones from the offices but there was no arrest made.
The NIA team locked the offices and handed over the keys to Lilong PS with instruction to ban entry by any person.
