Gandhi Jayanti celebrated across State

As observed across the country, the 153rd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was celebrated across the State today by organising various activities.
BISHNUPUR
To celebrate Gandhi Jayanti, cleanliness and sanitation programmes were conducted today in all the Government offices and public institutions including the Mini Secretariat complex.
Officials and staff of various Departments carried out cleanliness activities in their offices, subordinate offices and adjoining localities.
Cleanliness drives were carried out today by several departments including WRD, DIO/IPR, Employment Exchange, MSPDCL Sub Divisional offices, Statistics, Sericulture, PHED and different offices located within the Mini Secretariat complex.

All the Municipal Councils and Gram Panchayats of the district under the supervision of the Executive Officers and CEO, Zilla Parishad respectively also undertook cleanliness drives in all town areas and Gram Panchayats.
It may be noted that the Nehru Yuva Kendra and District Cooperative Office have been assigned to mobilize local volunteers and clubs for participation in the cleanliness programmes.
THOUBAL
District Health Society Thoubal under the aegis of District Administration Thoubal today observed Gandhi Jayanti by organising Social Service Camps at CMO Office Thoubal and all the health centres of Thoubal District.
The camp held at CMO Office Thoubal was led by Dr Y Nokul Singh, Chief Medical Officer Thoubal.
Staff of District TB Office, District Family Welfare Office, District AIDS Office, District Leprosy Office, IDSP, District Malaria Office, 10 bedded Ayush Hospital Thoubal, UPHC Thoubal, Food Safety Administration Thoubal and District Programme Management Unit, District Health Society Thoubal took active part in the Social Service Camp.
As a part of the camp, trees were also planted in the CMO Complex, Thoubal.
In the social service camp held at Thoubal Hospital, Dr Ch Memcha Devi, Medical Superintendent and staff took part in the cleanliness drive along with CRED & Hospital security.
Similar camps were also held in all the Community Health Centres and Primary Health Centres.
Community Health Officers led the camp in Health & Wellness Centres.
Moreover, as a part of Sewa Pakhwada, BJP Heirok Mandal today organised a cleanliness drive in various areas of Heirok Assembly Constituency.
Members of BJP Keirok Mandal Booth Committees took part in the drive conducted under the supervision of Heirok AC MLA, Dr Thokchom Radheshyam.
CRPF
On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, 69 Battalion CRPF today conducted a cleanliness drive at IOCL CIVIL Convoy marching ground near Mantripukhri, Imphal and Shree Shree Shree Mai Kali Mandir, Mantripukhri to spread awareness about the importance of cleanliness.
The drive was conducted to motivate and encourage the Unit personnel and public to keep the surroundings clean and hygienic, said a release issued by CRPF.
The drive was spearheaded by Bajrang Lal, Commandant 69 Bn CRPF.
Similarly, 69 Battalion of CRPF also organised a cleanliness drive at Sanakeithel, Lamphelpat, Imphal and nearby areas of RIMS, Imphal to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti today.
The drive was conducted under the supervision of Mohamand Yusuf, Commandant 86 Bn CRPF.
ASSAM RIFLES
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, 28 Sector under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised a Fit India Plogging Run Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at Kakching and Phundrei today.
Troops of 28 sector and Phundrei Battalion actively participated in the Run and joined hands on cleaning the surrounding areas, said a release issued by IGAR(S) .
Keithelmanbi Battalion also conducted a Fit India Plogging Run under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at Keithelmanbi, Imphal West.
Moreover, Loktak Battalion also organised a cleanliness drive to promote Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at Sendra village in Bishnupur district today.
A total of 34 villagers including students participated in the event.
