Assam Rifles promotes Swacch Bharat Abhiyan

Loktak Battalion of IGAR (South) organised cleanliness drive to promote Swa-chh Bharat Abhiyan at Sendra village in Bishnupur district on Sunday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the cleanliness drive was not only an effort to clean the surroundings but was also an endeavour to motivate and encourage the local populace to keep their surroundings clean and litter-free.
A total of 34 villagers including students participated in the event.
Local populace of the village voluntarily participated in the event and applauded the efforts of Assam Rifles for organising such an event.
Meanwhile, Keithelmanbi Battalion organised Fit India Plogging Run under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at Keithelmanbi on Sunday.
The 2-kilometre Run was organised to commemorate birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation.
All troops joined hands in cleaning surrounding areas and also educated the local about origin of plogging and importance of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to the nation.
In a similar gesture, 28 Sector Assam Rifles of IGAR (South) also organised Fit India Plogging Run under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at Kakching and Phundrei on Sunday to observe the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
The troops of 28 sector and Phundrei Battalion actively participated in the run and joined hands in sanitising the surrounding areas.
