Imphal, October 14 2022:
Manipur went down by 10 wickets to Uttar Pradesh in the penultimate game (5th) of the U-19 Men's Vinoo Mankad Trophy at Abhimanyu Cricket ground, Dehradun today.
It was the third straight loss for Manipur in the tourney having gone down in the hands of Jammu and Kashmir, Chandigarh in the earlier matches after two matches (against Kerala and Bengal) were abandoned.
Put in to bat first, Manipur were bowled out for a paltry total of 94 runs in 25.5 overs and Uttar Pradesh chased down the target with ease within just 9.1 overs courtesy Adarsh Singh's brilliant knock of 52 runs off 32 balls and Priyanshu Pandey's unbeaten 36 off 23 balls.
Earlier in Manipur's innings, openers faltered cheaply before Manglemba (20 off 26 balls) and Md Aqeel Ahamed (25 off 24 balls) tried their best to withstand the disciplined bowling efforts of Uttar Pradesh.
Akshu Bajwa was pick of the UP bowlers as he returned with the best bowling figures of 3/22 in 6 overs as Naman Tiwari, Prashant Veer and Kartik Yadav shared two wickets each.
Sadly, State lads failed to break the opening partnership between Adarsh and Priyanshu and eventually suffered a huge loss.
