Two held with drugs

As part of War on Drugs 2.0, a team of NAB arrested two men with drugs at around 4.35 pm on Thursday.
The arrested men have been identified as Yumnam Sanahal (57) s/o Chaoba of Irom Meijrao Mamang Leikai and Thuimia Paul (51) s/o Th Pino of Khumji-2, Lukhambi, Tamenglong.
According to a press release by Manipur Police PRO, a team of NAB conducted frisking and checking operation at Kanglatongbi bridge along Imphal-Dimapur route on Thursday during which a Maruti A-star (NL 07 C-1679) was halted for checking.
The team then requested in writing to the District Magistrate Imphal West for sending an executive magistrate to the location, foilowing which an SDC/BO/EM arrived at the spot.
The vehicle was then checked in the presence of the executive magistrate and about 25 soap cases containing heroin and 18 bundles containing 2000 WY tablets hidden inside the four door panels of the vehicle were recovered.
The heroin weighed a total of 338 gm while the WY tablets weighed around 3.963 kg.
The team then arrested Sanahal for possession of the drugs at 4.35 pm.
After interrogating Sanahal, the team also arrested Thuitnia Paul and recovered one mobile phone, voter ID, PAN card and two ATMs from his possession.
NAB PS has registered a case in this regard for further legal action, the release conveyed.
