Kangpokpi district youth festival concludes at Saikul

Kangpokpi, October 14 2022:
Kangpokpi District Youth Festival 2022 jointly organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra and Kuki Students' Organisation, Saikul as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav concluded at Saikul sub divisional headquarters.
The closing ceremony of the festival that began on October 6 was attended by Saikul MLA Kimneo Haokip Hangshing as chief guest while SDO/SDM Saikul Bhungba Maibam Khuman, and deputy inspector of schools (Saikul) Seiminlal Hangshing at tended as guest of honour and functional president respectively.
A prize distribution function was also held during the closing ceremony held at Hoikhonei Memorial hall at Thangkanphai, Saikul.
Inter-schools sports, painting and poem writing on the topic of unsung heroes/freedom movement/cultural heritage/unity in diversity/India@2047, mobile photography, declamation on the topic India@2047, and cultural dance were held as part of the festival.
In the inter-school sports, competitions included football tournament for both boys and girls, volleyball for boys and girls, badminton, and athletics held at different venues.
The winners of all the events were awarded cash prizes and a certificate each.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Kimneo thanked NYK and KSO Saikul for organising such an inspiring event that gave the youths a platform to showcase their hidden talents.
The MLA further said that such an event could nurture positive thinking among the youths.
KSO Saikul president Lamgouthang Chongloi highlighted the objectives for organising the youth festival which, he hoped, would broaden the youths' outlook.
Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai leaders, ex-vice chairman of ADC Sadar Hills, Thangjakam Misao, ex-ADC councillors, Thongjalun Mate and Thangkam Lupheng, OC Saikul PS inspector Suresh Anthony, 22 AR Saikul Post commander captain Bhupesh also attended the function, apart from over 900 students and youths from across the district.
