CM inaugurates Regional SARAS Mela

Chief Minister N Biren has said that the society will develop and prosper only when the economy of each individual family is improved.
Inaugurating the 16th Regional SARAS Mela, 2022, which is being organised by Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission (MSRLM), RD&PR department at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound, here, on Friday, Biren said that women play major role in the economic development of the state.
At the same time, contributions of both men and women in a family are equally important to lead a decent life.
He also recalled the contribution made by Manipuri women during the historic Nupi Lal and the freedom struggle and expressed delight on seeing tribal communities taking a greater part in the nation building process.
Informing that more than 41,000 tribal entrepreneurs of the state have been benefited under Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana, the CM praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his far sighted vision and initiatives to improve the livelihood of the people.
He continued that the Prime Minister had taken up various schemes for the welfare of the people under the slogan "Sabka Sath-Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas-Sabka Prayas".
Biren maintained that the aim of the present government is to ensure access to quality and secured life by its people.
Stating that the law and order of the state has considerably improved, he said that the state government is putting every possible effort to maintain peace in the state.
The CM expressed happiness on learning that various SHGs have obtained FSSAI license for their products and are also accessing on line market platforms like Amazon for selling their products.
He stressed the need for improving value addition of farm produces, proper and hygienic packaging so that the products could be exported outside the state.
The state government is considering setting up marketing platforms for various products produced by certain SHGs, he said and assured of extending every possible help from the side of the government.
Mentioning that many officials from G20 member countries are visiting Manipur for the G20 Summit next year, he informed that he would try to make arrangements for showcasing the products of various SHGs under MSRLM and TRIFED to the visitors.
Delivering his presidential speech, RD&PR minister Yumnam Khemchand stated that people are now enjoying the benefits of bank loans for improving their earning and source of livelihood.
Members of various SHGs are gaining knowledge on income, expenditure and savings, he said and also appreciated the CM for his initiatives taken up for welfare of the people and for releasing MSRLM funds timely.
The CM launched various products of SHGs from different parts of the state and also inspected the stalls set up by various SHGs, VLFs and CLFs showcasing their products.
The fair will continue till October 23.MSRLM state mission director N Bandana, DC Imphal East Kh Diana, officials of MSRLM and members of SHGs also attended the inauguration programme.
